Janet A. Kershaw Obituary
Graveside Service will take place Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43202.
Janet Andrea Kershaw was born on July 29, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio and was the 4th of 12 children born to Herbert and Dorothy (Newman) Good. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the age of 91 years old. Janet was known by her middle name, Andrea, to many that knew her, but she was lovingly called “Gumpie” by her family and close friends. She grew up in the area called “Flytown” and attended Central High School. She was also employed at OSU Hospital as a nurse’s aide before becoming a full-time wife and mother.
Andrea was raised in a religious home and attended The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith. When the church was located on Collins and Pennsylvania Avenue, her family lived down the street from the church, and she attended Sunday School and church services on a regular basis. As a young adult, Andrea was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. She remained faithful in her walk with the Lord throughout her life, attending church until her health prevented her from doing so.
Andrea’s passions in life were her faith, family, and cooking. Andrea truly loved the Lord, and she graciously opened her home on various days for prayer meetings, welcoming anyone who wanted to attend. Within her church, she dedicated her Godly service and time to the Bread of Life Ministry, which fed the homeless population. Andrea wanted everyone who came to the Bread of Life Ministry to feel loved and special. As a result, her food was served with the same care and attention to detail as if they were dining at a five-star restaurant. She was indeed an outstanding cook, and she blessed many people with her gift. Andrea’s passion for cooking and recipes were also the foundation for an award-winning restaurant, Pacinos Pizza and Wings.
Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harry (Pete) Kershaw Sr, parents, Herbert and Dorothy Good, Brothers, Gerald and Timothy Good; Sisters, Etta Jean Good, Maxine Smith, Carol Woodruff, Pamela Coles, Shelly Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Ronda Lewis, Harry (Kelly) Kershaw III, Kimberly Kershaw, Darryl Kershaw, Eric (Sabra) Kershaw, Torrey Kershaw; 20 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; brother Hugh B. (Donna) Good; sisters Charlotte Gailliard of Southfield, Michigan, Sylvia Good Brown, and Darnell (Karl) Tidwell; sister-in-law Juanita Good of Mississippi and many nieces, nephews, cousins and church family.
