A Memorial Service will be held for Jeffrey C. Elder Wednesday, July 8th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Madison Township, 4574 Madison Lane, Groveport, OH 43125.

In Loving Memory of Jeffrey C. Elder

Jeffrey C. Elder was born on July 14, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio. He departed this world on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the age of 60 years, leaving behind memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved him. Jeffrey was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. 

Jeffrey was a devoted sports enthusiast who found great joy in athletics and friendly competitions. Jeffrey attended Northland High School in Columbus, Ohio, where he helped win a city championship as a star running back. Once he graduated, he furthered his education by attending Central State University and Ohio University where he continued playing football on scholarship.  His athletic ability reflected both his talent and determination.

Jeffrey was a standout athlete at Northland High School, where he excelled in both football and track. He made history as the first freshman to start on varsity and scored the first time he touched the ball. On the football field, Jeff earned All-District honors, was named to the All-Metro Team, and was selected as the MVP of the first-ever Central Ohio Football All-Star Game.

In track, Jeffrey was also a City League champion. He finished as the state runner-up in the 100-meter dash and was a member of the 1600-meter relay team that placed third at the state meet.  After graduating from Northland, Jeff went on to continue his football career at Central State University.

When you saw Jeffrey, he always had a smile on his face and always had a distinctive sense of fashion. You would always find him out and about at museums, concerts, festivals, malls, libraries, etc. Jeffrey’s love for his community, especially Brentnell, had no boundaries. Jeffrey would love to reminisce about special moments shared with family and lifelong friends. One memory often shared by loved ones is how he would organize neighborhood football at Thanksgiving called the “Turkey Bowl”. Bringing together people of all ages and skill levels, always making sure everyone felt included and valued. His warm spirit and appreciation for life’s memories left a lasting impression on those around him.

Jeffrey was proceeded in death by his parents Brenda Johnson and Roland Elder; Brothers Michael Keith Elder and Roland Kinzer.

Jeffrey leaves to cherish his memory and is survived by his sisters Cheryl Elder Taylor (Donald Jr.); Kim Elder Lewis (Greg Jr.); and brother Ronald R. Elder (Ying); along with a host of nephews, nieces, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
