Joyce Ann Watson; AKA Luvenia Long; born on August 08, 1947, in Cincinnati, OH, the eleventh and last child of Alberta Brewer Long. Her father was Ray Morrison of Columbus, Ohio. Adopted by 2nd Cousin, Regina Mae (Finch) Watson & husband Andrew Watson, Jr.

Educated in Columbus Public Schools; 1965 Graduate of East High School; 1969 graduate of The Ohio State University, College of Education.

Taught for 30 years in Columbus Public Elementary Schools; Windsor ES and East Columbus ES.

Baptized at the age of 8 years old at The Church of Christ of Apostolic Faith, then located at corner of Washington & Donaldson Avenues in Cols, OH., under the Pastorate of the late Bishop Karl F. Smith where her membership continued uninterrupted until his passing.  Joyce was also blessed to be a member of the Southeast Apostolic Church and later the Whitehall Nazarene Church after the passing of Bishop K.F. Smith. Having spent her formative years in a church that embraced all ethnicities, her desire was to continue this pattern as a Believer in CHRIST our LORD who is not a respecter of persons.

Joyce married twice, but her Alpha personality made it difficult for her to master the endurance test of ‘til death do you part’.

Joyce had no children though she had longed to be a mother.  Nevertheless, she took on the role of big sister and aunt to her sister’s second son, Reginald Rains, who was reared in the Watson home from birth until his marriage to Kimberly Snow. Joyce bonded with the couple and their 3 daughters and the void of barrenness which pulled at her heart strings from her youth was slightly diminished as she took on the role of “Aunt Jo’.

Joyce also had the privilege of meeting and interacting with her maternal half-siblings and their children, along with many cousins she had not known to be her cousins while growing up.
