Julia Smith departed this life September 9, 2021. Family will receive friends Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1775 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43223 (mask required). Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Julia Elizabeth Smith, age 92, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Riverside Hospital.

Julia was born November 1, 1928, in Rome, GA, to James and Callie Dodson. She retired from Columbus City Schools as a bus driver and was a true humanitarian who embraced all. Her loving and giving spirit led her to become a foster mother to many. Julia was very active in church ministry and loved her church family.

Preceded in death by; her parents James and Callie Dodson, husband Charles Lewis Smith, siblings Raymond Dodson, Ella Mae Studyvent, J.C. Dodson, and Wilson Dodson, son Carlton Dodson, daughter Carmen Smith, and great-granddaughter April Talisha Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughters: Rose (Matthew) Rivers, Pasty (Thomas) Jefferson, Stephanie Parker, Candase Logan, Jennifer Ward-Smith, son Larry (Renee) Dodson, grandchildren; Shawana Smith, Brandi Smith, Tia Farris, Ivanna Rivers, Johnnel Ward, Shawniqua Smith, Quantisha Parks, Tina (Jeff) Banks, Arren Dodson, Yolanda (Je’Meacia) Haynes, Deon (Sonya) Izeko-Floyd, Carthon Dodson Jr, Jeffrey Dodson, Jamie Dodson, Michael Marsh, Wendy Marsh, Eric Mitchell Jr and Julez Mitchell, great-grandchildren; Ahmari Smith, Jary’on Carr, JayRee Carr, Markeya Smith, Markell Parks Jr, Damonique Thompson, JayVoni Smith, JayVontea Smith, JayVona Smith, JayVonique Smith, Stevie Smith, Stevieon Smith, JayVion Smith, Ashton Floyd, Reed Floyd, Cynque Banks, Ashton Banks, Braxton Banks, Cydney Banks, Gabriella Dodson, Rebekah Dodson and Alexandria Dodson, great-great grandchildren; Jaclynn Smith, Mikaela Hansard, Marley Parks, DeMari McCall and Londynn McCall. Julia leaves a host of nieces, nephews (special nephew Henry Studyvent Jr) and many other family and friends to treasure her life. There are not enough words to describe how amazing she was and how much she will be missed.
