Karen Laverne Brown, aged 67, passed away peacefully at her home on October 2, 2024. Born on April 28, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, Karen was the cherished daughter of Ada and Emmitt Brown. A proud resident of Columbus her entire life, she was a 1976 graduate of East High School and dedicated 30 years of her professional life working for The State of Ohio, where her contributions and commitment were deeply valued.

Karen was a gentle spirit, known for her quiet strength and thoughtful nature. She often kept her thoughts and feelings close to her heart, revealing them only when it felt important or necessary, always considering the feelings of others. Her kindness and empathy were the hallmarks of her character, and she effortlessly made those around her feel valued and understood.

An animal lover at heart, her nurturing side shone brightly through her care for animals, reflecting her compassionate disposition. 

Though understated, Karen’s presence was profound; she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle soul.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Ada Taylor and Emmitt Brown, Brothers; Carlton,Keith and Michael Brown. She is survived by her sister and best friend; DeMaria M. Harris; Goddaughter, Chantele Harris, Godgrandson, Patrick Gilbert; and nieces Dawn Smith and Tawanna Johnson.  A special aunt Ann Reed-Lettsome and a host of special friends and family.
