Obituary for Pastor Katherine Valentine

Pastor Katherine Valentine passed away peacefully at St Ann’s Hospital on Monday, July 1st, 2024. She was 83, born on April 30, 1941, in Bowden, Georgia she is preceded in death by parents, LC and Liddie B Almon, brothers Charles R. (Chico ) Almon  and Larry J. (LA) Almon, daughter Sha’ron Youngblood, Katherine is survived by brothers Jay L. (Sally) and Billy R. (Rosco) Almon, her only son Don A. Youngblood and a host of nieces, grand kids, cousins and friends. In her early years Katherine sang in her family group The Almonaires and the choir at The Second Shiloh Baptist Church. She graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1960 and decided not too long afterwards to get married. She became the mother of her daughter Sha’ron and few years later to her son Don A. and as the time past she decided to go to The Ohio State School of Cosmetology where she graduated and was hired as a teacher. After a short time she decided she wanted to work as a Cosmetologist, after working in a few beauty solons, she decided to open up her own beauty solon The Positive Image, after 20 years she retired to care for her Mother and Dad who needed home care. She was assisting her brother Larry who was acting as the pastor of their dad’s church St Paul Baptist Church, Larry decided to step down and Katherine became the pastor. She pastored until 2020, she caught covid and was not able to continue as pastor, her son Don A, stepped in to handle her responsibilities. Her health slowly deteriorated, she was in and out of hospitals until the lord decided July 1st, 2024 that he was calling her home.
