Kevin Marcel Watters was born on July 27, 1961 in Rome, Georgia to Jeannie A. Watters and Dallas Watters, Sr. (stepfather).  He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the age of 63 years old.  Kevin was affectionately called “Ke Ke” or “Kee-Vin” by close family and friends.  As a young boy, he loved living in Cave Spring, GA with his grandmother and enjoyed bonding with and playing outside for hours with his numerous cousins.  He and his family moved to Columbus, OH when Kevin was 9 years old.  He was raised on the Hilltop and made many close friends, some of which he remained close to until his passing. 

Kevin attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from Briggs High School, where he played basketball.  Shortly after graduation, while walking down Belvidere Avenue, Kevin was introduced to the love of his life, Tammy Brown, by her aunt, Ronda Lewis.  Tammy and Kevin were married on February 23, 1985 for 40 years. Through this union, they raised four beautiful children, Jason, Courtney, Josh, and Chelsea. 

His cousin, Gary Lewis, a former officer with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, worked closely with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Gary encouraged Kevin to pursue a career with the department. Kevin went on to work for the State of Ohio, Department of Motor Vehicles, where he was employed for 27 years.

During one of the Good Family picnics on July 5, 1997, Kevin decided he was ready to give his life to the Lord and serve Him, so Kevin and his cousins, Holly and Tonnie went to the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith and were baptized in Jesus’ Name. One of his favorite aunts, Darnell Tidwell, tarried with him until he received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.

Kevin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing recreational softball and basketball.  He spent many of his summers participating in the 3-on-3 Gus Macker Basketball Tournament, where he and his teammates (Dana, Herb, and Sam) won several First Place trophies.  Kevin was a Michigan Wolverines fan despite all of his family being Ohio State Buckeye fans.  He was thrilled when his daughters Courtney and Chelsea married men from Michigan that shared his love for the Wolverines. 

Preceded in death by mother, Jeannie A. Watters; stepfather, Dallas Watters Sr.; brothers, Dallas Watters Jr., Gary Watters; sisters, Willinda Johnson, Sheila Watters, Dalece Watters; sisters-in-law, Tracy Williams, Penny Foster. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Tammy Watters, his children, Jason (Tracy) Watters, Courtney (Steven) Mostyn, Josh (Teri) Watters, Chelsea (Theo) Tue, grandchildren, Trent Watters, Jada Watters, Taylor Watters, Laila Watters, Malia Watters, Austin Watters, Carsyn Tue, Chiya Tue, brother, Daryle Watters, sister, Angela Watters, mother-in-law, Sylvia Brown, special niece, Mia (Santez) Goddard, sisters-in-law Kelly Brown, Gladys Watters, special aunts, Andrea (Gumpie) Kershaw-deceased, Charlotte Ann Arnold, Cave Springs, GA, Ronda Lewis, special friends, The McElroy’s (Virgil, Vernon-deceased, Vincent, Stanley-deceased), Dana Cradle, Duane Patterson, Chuck Bond, David Williams, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
