Larry Brown was born on August 20, 1949 in West Point, Georgia to Louise Godfrey Brown and Horace Brown, Sr.

Larry departed this life on earth at the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 surrounded by his family and entered into eternal rest.

Larry accepted Christ into his life at the age of eight and was baptized by Rev. R. T. Gleaves and united with the Friendship Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio on December 29, 1957 and remained as a faithful member for over 67 years under the pastoral leadership of R. T. Gleaves, Dr. G. Thomas Turner, Sr. and Rev. Dr. Scottie L. Aaron. Larry sung in the formerly known, Adult Choir and attended Men's Sunday School class.

Larry attended the Columbus Public Schools and graduated in 1968 from Marion-Franklin High School. He was a member of Marion-Franklin's Student Council and played on the Basketball (All American 1966-68), Football and Track Teams.

After High School Larry received athletic scholarships from the University of Nebraska Omaha, Omaha Nebraska and Northwood (Institute) University, Midland, Michigan Campus. He majored in Business Administration and played football and basketball.

Larry resided in Flint, Michigan for 4 years and later returned to Columbus, Ohio briefly prior to moving to Oakland, California where he resident for 20 years. Larry returned to Columbus, Ohio and resided in Columbus until he was called to eternal rest.

Larry was employed by Coors Distribution Company, Oakland, California (Sales Representative); State of Ohio Library, Columbus, Ohio (Security) and Founder of Cumberlander Construction Company, Columbus, Ohio (Contractor).

Larry is predeceased by his parents, Horace Brown., Sr. and Louise Godfrey Brown; wife, Emma Jean Fuller Brown; grandparents Emma and Alex Godfrey; YZ and Jimmie Lee (Trammell) Brown; brother, Horace Brown, Jr.; nephew, Horace Brown, Ill; great nephew, Anthony James Wilson, Jr.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his children, daughter and son-in-law Nicole Louise Brown (Alonzo Davis, Jr.) of Oakland, California; son, Trabien Powell of Flint, Michigan; sister, Angelia Wilson Brown; brother, Timothy Brown; nieces, Sequena (Joshua) Peterson and Giddian Brown; nephew, Anthony James Wilson, Sr.; God daughter, Tiffany (Willie) Malone all of Columbus, Ohio; the mothers of his children, Marsha Caldwell, Oakland, California and Joan Powell, Flint, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
