It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Leatrice R. Holliday, at the age of 77, of Columbus, Ohio,  after a battle with leukemia. A cherished mother, yaya, sister, cousin, friend, aunt, educator,  esteemed coach, and beloved figure in our lives. She was a beacon of strength, resilience, and unwavering love. Despite her private nature, her impact on those around her was profound and enduring.

Proceed in death by her Father, George L. Gilchrest, Mother, Gustava W. Biggs, Grandparents George L. and Betty Sue Gilchrest, Albert and Flayvalla Watkins, brother George A. Gilchrest, Sister-in-law, Paula Gilchrest, and Sister-in-law, Dolores Steward.  Survived by her loving sons, Murad (Angelia) Holliday and Mykale Holliday, and her beloved grandchildren, Rylan Holliday, Camren Holliday, and Savannah Holliday, who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her loving siblings, Harry “Sonny”  Steward, C. Leatrice was a graduate of East High School in Columbus, Ohio.  She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Central State University where she was a member of The Pershing Angels.

As a dedicated mother, she exemplified selflessness, often sacrificing her own comforts to provide for her family. Her commitment to her family's well-being knew no bounds, as she tirelessly worked to ensure the family had every opportunity to succeed. Leatrice was not only a guiding force in her children's lives but also a mentor and role model to countless others through her esteemed career as an educator and head coach in both volleyball and track for 35 years in Columbus Public schools at South High School and Marion Franklin High School.

Her legacy is one of love, sacrifice, and inspiration. She touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering support, endless encouragement, and profound wisdom will be dearly missed.

Though we mourn her passing, we take solace in knowing that she is now free from pain. Her memory will live on in our hearts, and her love will continue to guide us through life's journey. Please join us in honoring her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on us all. Please keep our family in your prayers.
