Leona J. Scott

Leona J. Scott departed this life November 20, 2021. Family will receive friends Friday, December 3, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul AME Church, 639 E. Long Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. 

Leona J, Scott was born September 22, 1951 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Earl and Lena Fitzgerald.  She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the age of 70 years old.

Later in childhood, Leona and her family moved to Columbus, Ohio where she attended school in the Columbus School System and graduated from East High School in 1971.  She was employed by the State of Ohio for twenty-four years before leaving due to health concerns.

Leona enjoyed traveling, shopping, and watching old movies. She was a woman who knew her mind and enjoyed traveling, especially if it was with her family. She especially loved spending time with her family. Her two sons, Ronnie and Rolland were very special to her and she had a special bond with them. 

“Bones”, as she was lovingly called by her family had an unwavering love for all.   

Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Last week Leona Julia Scott rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings.

Leona came to St. Paul AME Church in 2018.  Because of health concerns she was limited, but determined to help in any way she could.  She had a sweet, sweet spirit.  She loved listening to the sermons and then discussing them on the way home from church.

Preceded in death by parents Earl and Lena Fitzgerald; brother Earl Fitzgerald, Jr.; sisters, Charolotte Brydie, Mary L. Williams, Lena J. Carter (her twin), Carolyn J. Cummings, Earlene L. Donoway-Wiley, Geraldine M. Cannon, brother Ricky L. Fitzgerald;  husband, Ronnie Scott, Sr.

Leona is survived by her two sons Ronnie Scott, Jr. and Rolland Dewayne Scott; foster daughter Brianna Fitzgerald; sisters, Pamela S. Bolte, Roseann M. Noble, Charlene (Olin) White, Marlene Whitson; brothers, Larry J. Fitzgerald (Patricia), Robert G. Fitzgerald, William E. Fitzgerald, Timothy L Fitzgerald.  She has many nieces and nephews.

Leona was very much loved and will truly be missed.
