Lois Lee "Bumps" Brown, age 86, was born June 13,1935 to Tom Brown and Ruth (Stamps) Brown in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this life, being called home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 13, 2022.
Lois (affectionately known as Bumps) grew up in (Flytown) the Short North area. She attended Everett Jr. High School and graduated from Central High School. She grew up in The Church of Christ of Apostolic Faith. And later in life she confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was the youngest of her siblings, Theodosia and Mary Ellen.
During her working years, she was employed by the State of Ohio, the Bureau of Workman’s Compensation located in the State Office Building, Fort Hayes, and was later employed by the Federal Government HUD, from where she eventually retired. She was a stenographer and an excellent typist, typing 90 wpm. She loved the English language, and it was just natural to see a dictionary on the table. In school she won many spelling bees, loved crosswords, Cryptoquotes, scrabble, and of course the show Jeopardy.
Lois was talented! She played the piano, playing classical and sang gospel songs. But she did love many other genres of music. She crocheted many beautiful Afghans and she loved to laugh and have fun! She enjoyed bowling, belonging to two leagues; she traveled, cruised, and really loved being a member of the YMCA where she enjoyed line dancing and aerobics with other Y members.
She was a dedicated caretaker of her mother until her passing at age 108. Many wonderful celebrations and precious memories were created at her home.
Preceded in death by former husband Dave Caldwell; father Tom Brown; Mother Ruth Brown; sister Mary Ellen Patterson. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving sister, Theodosia B. Cole; Nieces Gwendolyn (Josh) Ready; Deana (Mark) Nelms; Joy Foster; and Nephew Thomas (Kaye) Patterson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special friends, Carolyn Murphy and Gina Spinner.
With sincere appreciation the family of Lois Brown thanks each of you for your cards, flowers, many expressions of sympathy and other acts of kindness during her illness and our time of bereavement. Special thanks to The Christ of Christ of Apostolic Faith, Karen Kirkham, Geriatric Physician with Ohio Health, Gale Feinstein and the nursing staff and aides at Kensington Place, her last place of residence, Wexner staff, Vitas Hospice and The White’s Funeral and Cremation Services.
