Lonnie Stroud was born November 2, 1942, to Robert Charles Stroud and Vada (Swain) Cyler in Alpine, Alabama.  Although he was raised by his Grandma Margaret (Maggie) Shack in Gallipolis, OH.  He peacefully transitioned on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at the age of 81.  He met Blanche Marie Tanner and on April 1, 1967 they united in marriage. To this union two beautiful children were born.

Lonnie was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan! A true free spirit, outgoing, adventurous, and all-around pleasure to be around.  He never met a stranger, opened his home freely to all those in need, helped raise children that he treated like his own, and claimed as his, and whether you needed a place to stay, a place to vent, or just to visit, he was there. He loved meeting new people and old friends at his happy place, GJ’s Lounge where he encountered many and they came to know and love him too.  They became lifelong friends of his.  He loved to go boating, spend time on the river, traveling to new exciting places throughout the world especially Negril, Jamaica, playing darts, listening to the Blues and watching good ol’ Westerns and the Hallmark channel. Among some his favorite past times was to pop-up on his children, and especially his grands and great-grands to give them some of that paw-paw wisdom.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his loving wife; Blanche M. Stroud, parents; his brother; Ralph Stroud and sisters; Barbara Jean Stroud and Promolia Stroud Smith.

He leaves to carry on his legacy, his daughter; Pamela R. Stroud and son; Ryan A. Stroud; sisters; Magdeline Smith (Chester, PA) and Peggy Patricia Odum (Kansas City, MO), grandchildren; Shanice M. Patterson, Mercedes R. Porter, Aamena A. Stroud, Jamar R. A. Albert, Jaquan N. Layne, Zion O. Colon, Dawson L. J. Stroud, great-grandchildren; Alexis E. Montgomery, Alonnie L. Ware, R’Moni D. Clemens and Rian J. Prater; in-laws; Janet Cosby, Hartsel (Donna) Tanner, Robert (Nancy) Tanner, LeeAnn Ruck and Jewell (Judy) Tanner; special friend; Linda (Lynn) Coehins, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus children and very dear friends.
