Lourine Butler

Lourine Elizabeth Butler (Momma B), age 89, entered into eternal rest Sunday at 10:00 am at Riverside Hospital. Lourine was a retired Medical Secretary and church organist and pianist for Mt. Vernon AME Church. As a member of Mt. Vernon AME, she was affiliated with the Senior Chancel, Youth Choir, and Chapel Choir for more than 69 years of church service.

Lourine was Vacation Bible School Director for 20 years and attended the Adult Sunday Class faithfully for 10 years. Lourine was the director of the YWCA Woodland Wives and on the YWCA recruiters Board for 10 years. She worked in the public-school system with high risk young girls. Her fulltime job was being a great mother.

Lourine is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert H. Butler; parents Alonzo and Madge Richardson; sister and brother in law Hiawatha and Viola F. Young Jr.

She is survived by her beloved son Steve Robert Butler; special children Ray Moss Jr., Natalie N. Jackson, Valerie D. Hart and many more beloved special children; cousins Mr. And Mrs. Mack Lemon, P.J., Fay, Tina, Bonnie, Christopher Stephanie and many more; sister in law Ruth Cody; niece Norma Collins (Norman)Cent, Lisa and David and sister in law Lillian Chambliss.

Family will receive friends Friday, January 10, 2020 from 5:30 pm until time of service at 7:00 pm at Mt. Vernon AME, 1127 Mt Vernon Ave, Columbus, OH 43203.
