Missionary Louverna Hairston went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2024 at the tender age of 88.

Louverna was born to the late Moses and Mary Hairston in West Virginia. Louverna was the fifth born (With her twin, Louise) of nine children, eight girls and one boy.

Louverna graduated from Stonewall Jackson High school in 1954, in Charleston, WV.

After graduation, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked various jobs. She eventually settled in Columbus, Ohio, and accepted the Lord in the 1970s at the Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ, which at the time was located at 1602 Woodland Ave. During her time at Mt. Sinai, she served as a Y.P.W.W. &  Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, missionary, pastors aid, usher, nurse, V.B.S Coordinator, hospitality member, trustee, and pastors anniversary committee member.

Louverna was the mother of one son, Chase Skiver - Hairston. Louverna was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend.

Louverna is survived by her son Chase Skiver, grandson Adrian Skivet - Hairston and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and her church family.

She is proceeded in death by her sisters: Elise McGhee, Dorothy Jones, Mattie Spencer, Virginia Jackson, Louise Jones, Lena Pearl Hairston, Wanda Jean Hairston, And her brother Moses James Hairston. 

Louverna was greatly loved by her family and her church family, she will be missed very much, especially her infectious laugh.
