Calling hours Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at White's Funeral Home Chapel. Private family service (tickets are required for entry) at 1:00 p.m. Interment July 8, 2021 at Dayton National Cemetery. Family will receive flowers at the funeral home.
Merideth Marlo Mitchell, 65 of Columbus, Oh passed away peacefully with his family at his side Tuesday June 22, 2021 at Ohio State University East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Mitch as he was affectionately known by all was born October 29th 1955 in Fayette County, the son of Herbert M. Mitchell Sr. and Medrith M. (Haithcock) Mitchell.
Mitch was a 1973 graduate of McClain High School in Greenfield Ohio. Immediately following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam War where he served on the USS Jonas Ingram and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Following his Service in the US Navy, he enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard. Mitch was extremely proud of his time in the service. Mitch worked for Grumman Flxible Corporation making COTA buses with the Steelworkers Union 8265 in Delaware, Ohio before beginning a career with the Federal Post Office as a mail carrier for nearly 20 years.
On July 29, 1979 Mitch married the love of his life, Tilvon “Toy” Lea Edwards. They enjoyed 37 wonderful years together. He missed her everyday.
Mitch was full of life, loved to dance, loved his whiskey, his smoke and every sport, he played softball, golfed, fished and bowled he always got in where he fit in.
Mitch is survived by his mother, Medrith Mitchell; brother, Herbert (April) Mitchell Jr.; four sisters, Virginia (Daniel) Marshall, Katherine Davis, Ethel Davis, Evelyn (Alonzo) Dement-Thomas; two brother-laws, Clanton Edwards and Carlton (Carla) Edwards and one sister-in-law, Connie Edwards. Mitch and Toy were not blessed with children of their own but had nephew Robert Watkins II and niece Melissa (Mark) Grawe there to take care of him after his wife passed away and Stacey, Angel, Gabe, Susan, Wilson, Miranda, Donald, Amanda (Matt), Serenity, Kasey, Shaye-Lyn and Robert Jr, Brittani, Whittani, Ashton and Amber so many more great nieces and nephews including his special buddy Parker and all his many cousins and friends to love.
Waiting to meet Mitch with open arms is his loving wife Toy, his dog Charlie Wilson, his father Herbert Sr., father-in-law Clanton Edwards; mother-in-law, Odessa Edwards; three brother-in-laws Gary D. Davis, John Davis, Rudolph Ayler, and two nephews Gary M. Davis and Arthur Ayler.
