In Loving Memory of Michael Sean Dowdy
Michael Sean Dowdy, beloved son of Kevan and Betty Days, was born on Thursday, December 4, 1969. He transitioned peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the age of 56.
Michael was a product of the Columbus City Schools System, and proud graduate of Walnut Ridge High School, Class of 1988. He was formerly employed by National Sign and was a resident of Lancaster, Ohio.
Michael had many interests and passions. He was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a lifelong enthusiast of science fiction, especially Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who. A talented artist, Michael, filled countless sketchbooks and created many pieces of artwork that continue to be treasured by his family.
His love of music knew no boundaries. Whether it was Hip Hop, Rhythm and Blues, Country, Rock, or Jazz, Michael appreciated them all. His remarkable knowledge of artists and song titles could keep any conversation going for hours. He was equally passionate about movies, often amazing family and friends with his ability to recall actors, actresses, scenes, and movie trivia from memory.
Michael was also an avid gamer. From classic arcade games and Atari to Xbox and PlayStation, he loved the thrill of competition and was always ready for a challenge.
While these hobbies brought him great happiness, nothing compared to the love he had for his family and friends. They were the center of his life and his greatest source of joy.
Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Auzhsa Dowdy; his grandmothers, Ruby Dowdy and Lillie (Jesse) Roy.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Kevan and Betty Days; his sister and lifelong partner in crime, Kemba (Todd) Johnson; his brother, Korey Days; his precious daughters, Angelina Dowdy and Zhyaire Dowdy; his son, Zeth Hawley; the mothers of his children, Melissa Harbough and Beth Hawley; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, including lifelong childhood friends Paul (Kathy) Green and Neilston Byrd.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional physicians and staff of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, as well as Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio, for the outstanding care, compassion, and support shown to Michael throughout his courageous three-year, five-month, and twenty-two-day battle with Multiple Myeloma.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to our Trinity Baptist Church family for the love, prayers, and unwavering support shown to our family during this difficult time. We gratefully acknowledge the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee, for their care, concern, and many expressions of kindness.
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
