Michael Kenneth Vaughn was born May 15, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio to Phyllis Vaughn (née Ray) and Harold Jones. He went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2021.

Michael was affectionately known as “Mikey Vaughn,” to the Lincoln Park community, as well as the skate world, of which he was recognized as a legend. He attended South High School, prior to traveling to California and Atlanta where he made lifelong friends and family. In 2010, Michael departed from his career as a chef, a skill that he evolved over the course of his life, working at places such as the 94th Aero Squadron and Jefferson Country Club.

In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Michael enjoyed rooting for the Michigan Wolverines football team in his decked out man cave and cooking,  whether it was at home, on the grill at a family reunions or in his country club kitchen where golfers retreated after a long day on the course. He truly had a knack for bringing people together and leaving them with a smile through food. Aforementioned, he loved skating and was dubbed the King of Stride by many, having won his first car skating at the age of sixteen. For fifty-nine years he brought the world laughs and love and now he returns home.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents; his father and his wife, Ersla Posey-Vaughn. He is survived by his mother; his children; Michael Vaughn II, Teeyoika Vaughn, Tyree Vaughn and Mikeisha Vaughn; his brother Leslie Vaughn; in-laws; Kathryn Posey, Edgar Posey (Tracey Posey); brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; Ian Posey, Joshua Posey, Erin Posey; and his ten grandchildren, Ta’juan, Tionne, Ty’Iona, Ty’Montre, Antone, Antwaun, Ro’Mira, Ro’Shawn, Katin and Dionte; as well as a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends to cherish his memory.
