Nellie Mae Needum was born on July 9, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this earthly life on Friday November 7, 2025, blessed to live 97 years. Nellie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. Her faith in God was strong her continual prayer life was sturdy. She read her bible daily and prayed daily. Her favorite scriptures were Psalms 23 and the Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:9-13.

As the matriarch and pillar of her family, Nellie and her late husband Edward Needum, Sr. brought forth a legacy of children. Her children and grandchildren will always remember the life lessons she taught, the family meals she prepared, her radiant smile, soft spoken voice, warm laughter, kind spirit, and loving heart. She always taught her children the importance of education, independence, and responsibility. She spent quality time with her children and grandchildren, memories of her in her rocking chair, singing to her children will always be memories held near and dear. She enjoyed spending free time with friends, sharing conversations, laughter, and her love for dancing. Nellie touched countless lives, and her influence will continue to impact her loved ones for generations to come.

Nellie was preceded in death by parents Willie (Arsonia) Cason Sr., husband Edward Needum Sr., daughter Arsonia Needum, son Fredrick Needum. brothers Odell, Willie, Fred and Moses Cason, grandsons Michael Burden Jr., Lavar Needum, nieces Diane Winton and Michele Mack. 

Nellie is survived by her loving daughter’s Rozina (Michael) Burden, Pat Needum, Dorothy White, Edlina (Mark) Wiley, Ruby (Eddie) Bramlett, Cheryl Davis, Margaret Needum and Moseneice (Dwight) Thomas; son Edward (Gerrie) Needum Jr.; grandchildren, DeeShay (Rach) Dade, Christina Burden, James (Cheryl) Burden, Trisha Burden, LaMont Needum, Brian Needum, Mark (Catrice) Needum, Tameka Howard, , Erikia Bramlett, Andre (Hayley) Davis, Kara Davis, Keeten (Tia) Needum, Briana Thomas, Jazzmine (Marquis) McNeal , Essence (LeMar) Rice, Eddie Bramlett, Jr. Eryonna Bramlett. great grandchildren, Akeem Needum, Xavier Burden, Simone (Andrew) Reimenschneider, Racquel Dade, Alessondria Dade, Jaydan Davis, Iyana Davis, Carlton Watts, Jade Needum, Payzlie Burden, Nyaisa Burden, Aaliyah Howard, Charles Howard, Jr., Malachi Needum, Masen Needum, Makayla Towns, Makenzie Towns, Winston Needum, Parker Needum, Santana Williams, Serenity, Bailey, Marley, Jaylen McNeal, Hudson Needum, Zariah, Kameron Needum and host of great, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.
