Odell Chatman 85, passed away on Saturday December 25, 2021 at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus Ohio. He was born on April 9, 1936 to the late Lula M. Mosley and Taylor Chatman, in Talladega, AL. he was educated at Ophelia High School in Munford, AL and later relocated to Columbus, Ohio. Odell was employed by Mailbu Foundry, where he retired after 25 years of outstanding service.
Odell was an advent member of Successful Masonic Lodge No. 17 and was a dedicated Deacon and member of Aenon missionary Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio for over 40 years, under the leadership of the late Shellie R. Doughty and then under the leadership of Pastor Raymond Doughty.
Odell will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and the way that he would always put a smile on your face. His favorite color was blue.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Taylor Chatman and Lula m. Mosley, Brother Frizell Chatman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; Betty Chatman , Daughters; Shelithel, of Indianapolis, IN Gale, of Summit TM. Marnetta, of Canton, OH Son: Steven of Canton, OH Sisters: Annie bailey and Mary Ledford both of San Antonio, TX, Brother: Elisha Jones of Columbus, OH and 9 Grandchildren. Special: His dear cousins Janice and Eddy Ford: Dear friend: Holly Roper and his faithful and beloved Sister-in-law May D. Huggins and Brother-in-law Leonard Berdine. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Odell will greatly be miss by everyone that knew him. He was the kind of man that anyone would be proud to call a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
