Odessa Bell Hague was born March 7, 1939, in Macon, GA to Elizabeth Bell and Eugene Garland. She relocated to Columbus, OH in 1957. She was united in marriage to Purvis Hague in 1989. She loved the Lord and was a member of The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith. She retired from the Columbus School Board with over 35 years of faithful service.
Odessa was blessed with 5 beautiful children, however, she raised, fostered, and cared for many children over the years. She was the true definition of “It Takes A Village”. Her home was known for being a place to go in time of trouble or in times of need and she always had a listening ear and welcomed you with no judgment or any questions asked. With her strong love of family, if you were in her presence you knew even if you were no blood relation you were still family to her and she referred to you as such. Everyone had a name of love for her, whether it was Mommy, Granny, Auntie O, Aunt Odessa, or just plainly Odessa it was one filled with respect. She was the legendary QUEEN of cards, loved bingo, and going to the casino among many other things. She was quick to tell you the truth, no matter how raw, hard, or whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Waiting to welcome her into heaven were her parents; Elizabeth Bell and Eugene Garland; beloved husband; Purvis Hague; her only son; Anthony Bell, and a beautiful daughter; Sonya Bell siblings; Evelyn Dave, Mildred Parks, Lorraine Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Ronald Thomas; and her longtime furry companion Boots Hague.
She leaves to carry on her legacy her beautiful daughters; Tejina Bell, Taiwianna Hague, and Sylvia Hobson; grandchildren she loved dearly; Joseph Bell, Toni Carpenter, Stacy Bell, Toni Bell, Jayquan Brown, Nature Bell, Angleque Hobson, Tayveon Slappy, Kayvon Bell, Imani Hague, and Nova Brady; 14 great-grandchildren; dear sisters; Elizabeth Thomas Murphy and Rose Harris; brothers; Darnell Thomas and Joseph Garland; aunt; Shirley Shipp; sister/cousin; Jettie Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and her newest furry companion Bella.
Odessa will be missed dearly and precious memories will be cherished always.
