Patricia Hudson Obituary
Patricia A Hudson, affectionately known as Pat, passed away March 27, 2025. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10th at 11:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S. James Rd., Columbus, OH 43227.
Patricia was born on December 16, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Moses O’Neal and Carolyn Bristol O’Neal. She was the middle child of three sisters, Sheryl Renee O’Neal and Teresa Karen O’Neal, who both preceded her in passing.
Although Pat was born in Atlanta, she cherished her upbringing in Detroit, Michigan and referred to it as home. Pat completed her high school education and earned a health care certificate from Job Corp. Subsequently, she worked as a medical assistant in the Detroit area for several years. Additionally, Pat pursued her passion for cosmetology at Virginia Ferral School of Cosmetology, where she obtained her license.
Pat’s compassionate nature led her to become an exceptional caregiver, always ready to welcome those in need. Despite not having children of her own, Pat was twice married. First, to Dallas Branch, and later to Walter Hudson, with whom she became a stepmother to Michelle and Alan. Pat’s love extended to her stepchildren and grandchildren, Lisa and Little Walt, whom she adored and cherished. Pat also played a nurturing role in raising her nieces, nephews, and many other children, as well as caring for stray animals.
Pat, a devout Christian, dedicated her life to God and underwent baptism in Michigan at the age of 25. Approximately two decades later, she relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where she joined the Centenary United Methodist Church. There, she actively participated in the choir and various church initiatives, including the weekly Bible Study and Prayer group.
Pat possessed a passion for dancing and entertaining. She cherished spending time with friends, attending events, and enjoying meals together. Additionally, she was an avid bowler, participating in different leagues across Michigan and Columbus, Ohio, and even competing in bowling tournaments. Card games and beer were her other favorite pastimes. She would often engage in weekly card sessions with her Aunt Debbie and Annette Lewis, and they would also enjoy trips to the casino together.
Pat’s adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively until her health limitations prevented her from doing so.
Pat leaves behind cherished memories for her family, including her aunts and uncles, Robert Williams, Freddie Williams, Margie Johnston (Steve), Deborah Williams (Keith), and Jeffery A Bristol. Her nieces and nephews, Shawn L. Troutman, whom she treated like a daughter, and affectionately called “Baby Doll,” Arthur B. O’Neal, Angelique R. Mills, Robert L Rushin, Tashawna J. Rushin, Dwann J. Rushin, Dante’ M. Westbrook, and numerous great nieces and nephews, Perry and Gwen Chaney, who had a profound impact on her life, served as her lifelong best friend, Judy Potts, and many other family members.
