Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 867 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43227.
Paul E. Perkins, 89 gained his wings and joined the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at OSU James Hospital. Paul was born to Helen Wolfelt Perkins and Vernon Perkins.
Paul was born and raised in Columbus Ohio and graduated from the Columbus Public Schools. Paul then enlisted into the United States Air Force from March 1953 and was discharged May 1961 Shortly after his discharge he met the love of his life Florence Lopez. He held several jobs throughout the years and his last being the United States Postal Service in which he was retired from.
Paul was a very loving and caring man who loved his family more than anything. His wonderful sense of humor and love of life made everyone who knew him, adore him and always wanted to be in his presence.
Paul was very much into sports and encouraged young people to be involved also. He had a great love of basketball and would have a basketball hoop erected in their back yard where his sons and grandchildren played often. In his younger days he volunteered at the then called Salesian boys and girls club.
Paul had a great love for Jazz with Miles Davis and Canonball Adderley being some of his favorite jazz musicians. He also had a love for playing cards, pinochle was his game. He along with his wife Florence would play for hours with his brothers-in-laws and other friends
Paul was proceeded in death by his mother Helen Wolfelt Perkins and father Vernon Perkins, wife Florence Lopez Perkins and son Luis Perkins. Step daughters Leondra Lawrence, Florencia Walker and Juana Johnson. Paul will be greatly missed by his son Umar (Candice) Khidr, Step-son Daryl (Della) Walker, Step-daughter Tanya (Joseph) Edwards. Grandsons: Andre, Romale, Aerion, Saeed, Khalid, Jamil, Muhammad and Hassan. Granddaughters: Shiquitta, Dashala, Kimiko, Camila, Alexandria, Jamila and Aneesa. Many step grandchildren many and great grandchildren. A host of family and friends
