PAULA GAYLE GILCHREST was born in Columbus, OH on October 20, 1947, to Bettie Ann and Maurice C. Crawley. She departed this life on March 3, 2020, at the Woodlands of Columbus.
Paula was a graduate of Columbus South High School.
On July 20, 1968, Paula was united in marriage to George Albert Gilchrest, her soul mate for 48 years. To this union one daughter, Shannon, was born. Paula was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Paula was an employee in the Accounting Department of Turner Construction Company for 23 years and the King Arts Complex for 18 years.
She joined Second Baptist Church on October 1, 1983. At Second Baptist, she once served on the Welcoming committee.
Paula was a member of the Mannequins Social Club. She was friend to many. A dear friend said “all those who know her, love her, will miss her, memories will forever live in our hearts, minds and souls.”
Paula was preceded in death by her Husband George A. Gilchrest; her parents, Maurice and Bettie Ann Crawley. Survived by daughter, Shannon (Thomas) Hall of Edmond, OK; Grandchildren, Makenna, Johari and Khalil Hall; Aunt, Mari Lou Whitfield of Henderson, NV; Special Friends, Patricia (Henry) Scott, James Austin, Jean Watson, Joyce Fair; Goddaughter, Khalilah (Shawn) Sumners of Summerville, SC; and many other relatives and friends.
