René Aekins

René Aekins, a loving aunt, sister, and dedicated friend.  She was a faithful and devoted T.E.T.R.E.C. choir member.  Rene loved working with the community.  She was a licensed professional clinical counselor.  She held her Masters Degree in College student personnel from the University of Dayton; a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Park University, and a Associate of Science in Translating and Interpreting from Columbus State Community College. René was employed by the Ohio Sickle Cell and Health Association. 

René Aekins was born to the late Albert and Carol G. Smith and proceeding in death by her brothers, Albert L. Smith, Gene L. Porter. 

René leaves and cherishes her memory in life with brother James L. Porter and sister in law Tia Porter; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and loving friends, relatives, church family, and coworkers. 

Family will receive friends Monday, January 20, 2020 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at New Covenant Believers Church, 3400 Kohr Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43224. Arrangements by WHITE’S FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 867 S.
