Rev. Dr. Raymond Joseph Mickens, age 77, departed his life November 20,2025 after a long illness. He was born March 12, 1948, to Marian Suretha (Boyd) Frazier and Raymond Earl Mickens in Columbus, Ohio.

Raymond was a proud Navy Veteran having served three tours in Vietnam. Raymond’s ministry included preaching, teaching and pastoring for over 40 yrs. While in the African Methodist Episcopal Church he pastored in St. Andrews, Coshocton; Newcomers Town; Quinn Memorial, Steubenville; St. Mark, Columbus; and Zion Delaware. Raymond served on the Columbus District Board of Examiners and assisted Bishop Webster, Bishop Henning and Bishop Young. Raymond loved to service and had a true servant’s heart.

Raymond never met a stranger, and given a chance he would witness of God’s goodness and pray at a moment’s notice. He not only loved serving the church but was of service in his community and neighborhood. 

Raymond is survived by his loving and devoted wife Robin Mickens, children, Sophia Shaw, (CO), Lisa Bah, Marian Mickens, Janie Dotson (WV), and Ebony Newby-Brown. Raymond is also survived by his siblings, Mary (Pete) McElroy, Beverly Burton (GA), Ronald (Maureen) Mickens, John Mickens, and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Joseph Mickens, Jr, parents Raymond Mickens, Charles (Chuck) Frazier and Marian Frazier; son-in-law, Abou Bah, brothers, Zedock Mickens, Ralph Mickens, and Robert Mickens.
