Rose Marie Jennings Caine was born at home in Columbus, Ohio on May 6, 1938. She was the 4th child and daughter of John Harvey and Henrietta (Jackson) Jennings of seven children. She attended St. Cyprian’s Grade School as did her siblings. She attended St. Mary’s High School where she graduated in June 1956. This is where she met the love of her life, Thomas Isaac Caine III. They wed in 1959 at St. Dominic Church, their union lasted for 60 years. She leaves to mourn her, 3 children Thomas I. Caine IV (Kim), Mary Beth Caine (Sam Wilcox) and Maria Caine-Jeffers and her bonus daughter Altrece Garrison (Gary), grand children: Akia Scruggs, Steven TJ Scruggs II (Leigh), Marquise Mays (Anne), Maya Caine, Mica Caine, Quenton Caine-Jeffers, Jacqueline Jeffers, great grands: Aubrey Scruggs, Mehkia Scruggs, Raiden Lightner, Rogue Lightner, Stormii Scruggs, Kobe Mays and Vera Mays.

Rose Marie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas I. Caine III, her  parents, John and Henrietta Jennings and all of her siblings: Sylvia Burrs (Clarence), Constance Stinson (John), Jacqueline Munford (Willie), Michael, John and David Jennings.

Survived by sister-in laws: Betty Tucker (James), Joann Jennings (Michael) and Rosalyn Jennings (John), Karen Battle, Joyce Link (Michael), Barbara Jennings. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Rose Marie retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company with 35 years of outstanding service. She was an active and dedicated employee, who sang in the choir and participated in the Ohio Bell Speakers Bureau, where she taught African American history to students all over the state of Ohio. She was warm, friendly and rarely met a stranger. Rose Marie was very active in her community, helping form the Woodland Park Neighborhood Association, where she served as chair for many years. She served on the Board of Directors for United Way of Franklin County, Franklin Park Conservatory and the Eastside YMCA.

In addition, she and Pat Grinter started a Girl Scouts of America troop, because there was none for African American girls. These experiences remain in all the memories of these women. Many of them still stay in touch. Rose Marie Jennings Caine lived a life of service. Her life is a testament to her faith, love and dedication to God, His teachings. She yearned to know Him more as she matured and found strength and guidance in His word and the gift of family and all that crossed her path. She loved to socialize because life was in the love of people around her….if we can leave with a part of her it would be in these quotes: It could be better or it could be worse, love you lots, and love one another !!
