Roy Phil Green answered his Father's call on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at his residence in Los Angeles, California.
Roy Phil Green was born July 9, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Willetta (Ezell) & Chollie B. Green of Loachatoka, Alabama. He grew up a member of Calvary Tremont Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio under the late Reverend J.W. Payden. Phil attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from The Columbus East High School in 1966. After graduation he was employed at Timken Roller Bearing Company and later enlisted & served in the U.S. Army.
Phil had a passion for music & performing. He started his first musical group in the 9th grade at Franklin Jr. High, "Green & The Kings". He later formed a group called "Phil & Hot Cargo" they were featured in the December 10, 1971 issue of the Columbus Dispatch. Phil & Hot Cargo performed on the Hotel Circuit in Ohio and surrounding States.
Phil's second passion was furniture. He relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1978 where he owned & operated several furniture stores featuring custom pieces he created.
Phil was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin & friend to many. He is survived by his daughters; Lawrenceene Howard, Lavena Parker, Tocka (Rodney) Barrett, Cynthia Parker, Shalaun Green & Patrice Green. Sisters; Mary (James) Humphy, Ruth Thompson, sister-in-law; Carolyn Green. Former wife Charlene Taylor, nieces and nephews; June (Kevin) Wise, Marcus (Grace) Humphy, Craig Green, Carlton (Cassandra) Green. Ten grandchildren; Dajuan, Dominick, Marliese, Brylan, Delmar, Michael, Rashaan, Tymir, Mekhi, and Richard (RJ). eleven great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Two very dear friends since childhood Craig McMullen & Ronald White, Special lady friend Dr. Patricia Pullen, and business partner Mr. Raheem.
Preceded in death by his loving parents; Willetta and Chollie Green, brother; Deacon Charlie Green and former wife; Paulette Owen-Green; and niece Lisa Alsaadon.
