In Loving Memory of

Rufus Alexander
October 12, 1947 – December 14, 2025

Rufus Alexander, 78, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. He lived a life marked by unwavering faith, deep love for family, joyful laughter, and a lifelong passion for automobiles.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Wendy Alexander; his children Toya (Mark) Spencer, Tessa (Lemar) Boyd, Tara Alexander, Taryn (Joe) Johnson, and Rufus Troy Alexander; and his cherished grandchildren Langston, Eisley, Ethan, Ian, and Joshua, along with many beloved relatives and dear friends.

Rufus was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother; his brothers John Alexander, Wayne Alexander, Roosevelt Alexander, and Kenny Thompson; and his sisters Dorothy Alexander-Stargel, Ruth Jones, Alma Lee Hill, and Jeanette Cruse.

Known for his infectious personality, Rufus never met a stranger. He greeted everyone with a warm smile, a firm handshake, and his familiar words, “Hey, how are you doing!” A devoted man of God, he was a prayer warrior and faithful servant at Rhema Christian Center, actively participating in ministry and prayer groups.

Rufus proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He later retired from a long and dedicated career in the automotive industry, a passion he joyfully continued part-time in retirement. A true car enthusiast, Rufus owned more than 70 cars and took pride in keeping them “fresh and clean.”

He also enjoyed action movies, especially those starring Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal, and was well known for his love of fried chicken and his signature dance move, the “Slick Leg.” These moments, along with countless treasured memories, will forever bring smiles to those who knew and loved him.

Though deeply missed, we rejoice knowing Rufus is at peace, rejoicing in the presence of his Heavenly Father.

Rufus’s life was guided by his favorite scripture:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:5–6
