Samuel (Sammy, A-Boy) T. Wright Jr. Age 86 was born August 19th, 1938 to Parents Samuel T. Wright Sr. and Edna (Irving) Wright in Rand, West Virginia. He was one of eight children, six sisters, Nannie, Alma, Catherine, Joyce, Rebecca, Eva, and one brother Benjamin.  He attended West Virginia Public Schools in was one of the last official graduates of Garnett High School, a historic African-American High School in Charleston, West Virginia, which closed in 1956 due to the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, paving the way for integration of US Schools.


Shortly after graduating from high school, he moved West to Los Angeles, California, for a short period of time before deciding to head back East and move to Columbus, Ohio, where he met the love of his life Carol Woodford. On July 8th 1961 they entered into a lifelong commitment which lasted until he took his last breath. During the summer of 1972, they were  blessed to become the proud parents of their little bundle of joy, Samuel "Monty" Lamont Wright.


Samuel was a hard worker and had a variety of jobs during his lifetime. He began his employment in Columbus at the Farm Bureau as a laborer. From there he became a mechanic for the State of Ohio, next he held the position of mechanic supervisor for the City of Columbus for over 25 years. His other endeavors included being a 1st Sgt. in the US Army Reserves, an Entrepreneur, a Barber and the proud owner of Monty I Barbershop.


Blessed with Eighty-Six years of life, Samuel T. Wright Jr.  answered the call to be taken home to glory on Thursday, July 31, 2025. He is proceeded in death by his son Samuel "Monty" Lamont Wright; Parents Samuel T. Wright Sr. and Edna Wright, Sisters: Nannie Wright, Alma Williams, Rebecca Twine, and Brother Benjamin Wright. He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy, his devoted wife of 64 years, Carol Wright; Sisters Katherine Fisher, Joyce Hargro, and Eva Campbell.  Sister in law, Beverly Woodford, Brother in laws, Alfonzo Woodford, Harold Woodford and Gary Woodford. Special Nieces: Leslie Taylor-Smith, Yvette Campbell, Tiffany Lewis and Danielle Woodford. Special Nephews: Dwight Williams, William T. Briggs and Taft Woodford. Special Great-Nephews: Melvin "Monty" Campbell and Malon Campbell. Special Great niece Kalakiera Smith and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends that he embraced during his lifetime.
