September 9, 1947 - September 18, 2023
Shirlie Ann Jones-King was born on September 9, 1947 in Cordova, Tennessee to the late Mary Hill and Jessie Lurry.
At one year old, Shirlie and her family moved to Joliet, Illinois. She attended and graduated from Joliet Public Schools. She spent over 20+ retirement years in Columbus, Ohio.
She accepted the Lord at a young age. She was a member of Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the Casino and most importantly, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Martha, Louise, Betty Jean and brothers: George and Kelvin. Charles King, her beloved husband, also preceeded her in death.
Shirlie leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, LaSonia M. Lurry and one son, Darin D. (Jennifer) Lurry Sr.; three step children: Angela Shaw, Fred King and Star King; a special son-in-love: Junior Barefield; seven grandchildren: LaToyia, Zarmiesha, Malcolm, ShauKia, Adreonna, SharKiya and Darin Jr.; and seven great grandchildren: Mikailah, Jaylen, Jayden, Mark, A’Jhon, Bray’Lynn and Legaci. She also leaves to cherish her siblings: Helena Strong, Dorothy Blackmon, Renetta Alexander, John (Vera) Sneed, Colin (Sheree) Sneed and Darrell Sneed of Joliet, Illinois; Felicia Hinton and Minerva Sneed of Columbus, Ohio; Shirley (Vincent) Rogers, Dennis (Nancy) Lurry, Rickie (Andrea) Lurry, Rockie Lurry of Lorain, Ohio; Jane Daniels and Denay Lurry of Memphis, Tennessee; and her special loving step-mom, Annie Lurry; three special friends: Zeda Terry, Hattie M. Lewis and Georgia Norris of Joliet, Illinois. She also leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her memory.
