“Stanley (Terry) Terrance Broaddus—A Kindred Spirit from a Gentle Soul”
A kindred spirit from a gentle soul, refers to a person who willingly shares a bond often associated with mutual love, loyalty and support.
Terry had such an unpretentious love, unconditional kindness and corralling support for everyone he met. He never left you without a vivid conversation that wouldn’t uplift and encourage your day. He was always grateful for everything you did for him. He never met a stranger.
Stanley Terrance Broaddus was born on May 1, 1960, the eldest son of Walter and Josephine “Bea” Broaddus at White Cross Hospital (University Hospital). He would become the beloved big brother to Jon “Tracy” in 1963, as well as a cherished nephew/ cousin/brother to the Waters family. Tracy and Terry have remained inseparable.
Although Terry faced cognitive challenges, he surpassed others with his intellect and memory. Terry was a proud graduate of North High School (Columbus City Schools). Terry could repeat dates, times and places of your birth with 100% accuracy! Terry loved to draw, write, read the newspaper, complete word search books and collect vintage music of the 50’s and 60’s. His smile, his positive outlook and his coffer of amazing knowledge, was astounding.
He loved to go places, especially with his cousins, Steve and Sheila. He made sure that you understood his birthday would soon be on the horizon, and that you had better check-out his list for possible gifts.
When Terry was not with Tracy, he was with his cousins, traveling throughout the city of Columbus. Terry always looked forward to those trips.
Terry was fervently loved by his family and friends. He entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 14, 2026, unexpectedly, at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Josephine Broaddus; aunts, Carolyn Garland and Claire Waters; uncles, John W. Garland, Jr., and Dennis Waters; grandparents, John and Viola Garland.
Cherished memories remain for his brother, Jon “Tracy” Broaddus; nephew, Tracy J. Broaddus; former sister-in-love, Candi Broaddus; cousins (who loved him as a brother), Sandra (John) Holley; Sheri, Sheila, Steven and Sylvia Waters; and a host of family and friends.
“You don’t have to wait for the End. I Am, right now, the Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in Me, even though he or she dies, will live.” John 11:25-26 (Message Bible)
Terry is now resting in the presence of the Lord. Until we meet again, we will always cherish and love Terry (aka “T-T”).
