Tommie Lipson Obituary

On Friday November 15, 2019 Mr. Tommie Lee Lipson wrote the final chapter of his life, quietly closed the book and answered His call and entered into his eternal peace.

Tommie was born September 10, 1934 in Grand Junction, Tennessee to the late, Mr. Kenny Lipson Sr. and Mrs. Corrine Mc Clellan The Family later moved to Memphis Tennessee where he met his sweetheart and his future wife of 59 years. To this union; three children were born. The late Mr. Walter Darrell, Sherri Lynn and Felecia Gail .

In 1957 Tommie relocated his family from Memphis to Columbus, Ohio. Tommie held various jobs before starting his career with Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company (AEP). He retired after 30 years of service.

His legacy is a hard worker and strong family provider. Tommie was an avid sports fan, enjoyed sharing fond memories, good food and drinks and telling sarcasm with family and friends.

Tommie is preceded in death by his wife Doris Lipson, parents Kenny Lipson Sr. and Corrine McClellan. Son Walter  Darrell, Brother Kenny Jr. 

Those left to celebrate and rejoice in his memories: Daughters Sherri Helton, and Felecia (David) Lucas; La Shanta  (Christopher) Thompson. Brother: Monroe (Barbara) Lipson, Sister: Cora Jones. Former Daughter-in-Law: Stephanie Wiggins-Lipson:  Grandchildren– The Lipsons:Walter Shaun, Richard, Ashley and Denzel M.: The Heltons: James Michael and Justin Monore; the Lucas; David III and Thomas M; Thompson: Rakyya Kariem and Wayne Tommie Thompson Great-grandchildren: Khalea, Kiarra, Kobey, Kareem, Kash, Navaeh, Denzel II, Ariana, Jordan and Riley

Brothers in-law: Pastor A.C. (Rosemary) Allen & Doris L. Thomas (Columbus, Ohio); Sister s in-law: Patricia Bogan and Barbara Davis: Memphis. TN.

Nephew and families: Jerrell (Ann) Rucker-Memphis TN. Reginald (Keisha) Thomas (St. Paul, MN), Brandon Davis-Boston, MA, Arnold C. Allen and Eric Davis.

Nieces and families: Gwendolyn Phillips and Michelle (Pastor F.V. LaMarr)-Columbus, Oh, Cassandra (Rodney) Houpe, Stephanie (Nate) Rayford-Atlanta, GA, Sondra Lipson, Linda (Fred) Dickerson and Maddie M– All from Memphis TN. Annie Mae Wilson Evansville, IN.

Cousins and families: Robert (Nancy) Allen, Charles (Cheryl) Allen-Memphis, TN. and Doris Weems. A host of others relatives and friends including the Saint Luke Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at St. Luke Baptist Church, 1660 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43205. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
