Valerie McCall's Obituary


Valerie McCall was born on April 12, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan and later re-located to Columbus, Ohio. She attended the Columbus City Schools and later graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1970.


She was baptized at an early age at the Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. Wilson Woods. She later united with the Mt. Vernon Avenue AME church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William Wheatley where she worked alongside her mother in the Food Pantry.


She was previously employed by Federal Glass and later by Honda of America until her retirement.


Val, as she was affectionately called, loved to play all kinds of card games and was a life-long faithful member of the Columbus Whist Players Society and Pinochle.


She was preceded in death by her Parents: Earnest and Edna Carter; Brother: Dwight Carter; Maternal Grandparents: Mary Rodgis and Jeffrey Peterson; Paternal Grandparents: Dan and Velma Carter, Sr.; Step-Son: Kevin LaMonte McCall; Niece: Tina Carter and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.


Left to cherish her memory is her loving Husband: Ronald McCall; Daughters: Leontine (Lynn) Hayden and Rhonda Miller Wormley; Step-Children: Maurice (Melissa) McCall, Anthony McCall and Shuana Rankin; Brothers: Ernest Larry Carter and Gregory (Cheryl) Carter; Sister: Sandra (Robert) Eubanks; Uncle and Aunt: Dan (Nonnie) Carter, Jr.; Grandchildren: Allante’ Miller, Mark (Britani) Austin, Kierra Miller and Mikaila Jackson; Great Grandchildren: Kaiden Austin, Raegan Austin and Jaiden Winborn; Step-Grandchildren: Marissa McCall, Chanler Rankin, Chase Rankin, Colby Rankin, Casey Rankin, Isaac McCall and Isaiah McCall; Special Nieces: Taylor (Brian Mayes) Carter and Dr. Rhea Eubanks; Special Cousin/Sister: Gloria Jean Whatley; Special Friends: Phyllis (Lee) Cornute, Yvonne (William) Ford, Sheri (Henry) Abram, Kenny (Debra) Rankin and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
