Virginia Ann Meriwether Pryor, age 89, passed away Friday morning, May 9, 2025 in the comfort of her home. She was born on August 4, 1935, in Newark, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert Lee Meriwether and Minnie Ola Jefferies Meriwether. She was the youngest of 7 children.

She was a proud graduate of Newark High School, class of 1954, in Newark, Ohio. Her faith was an integral part of her life, having been baptized on October 7, 1951, at the Trinity AME Church in Newark, Ohio. She was later baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, on March 3, 1985. Throughout her life, she was an active member of both churches, serving faithfully as a choir member at Trinity AME and Trinity Baptist. On July 8, 1956, she married Lewis Pryor Jr at Trinity AME Church, where they joyfully shared 68 years of marriage.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Albert Lee and Minnie Ola; brothers Julius, Charlie, George and Albert Meriwether; and sisters Christine Fullen and Emma Kate Strickland. 

She is survived by her husband Lewis Pryor Jr; children Sharon (Richard) Williams, Patricia Lyles, Lewis (Yvonne) Pryor III, Gail (Kevin) Dudley, and Kimberly (Charles) Montgomery; grandchildren Wayne (Brandy) Williams, Christopher Lyles, Curtis (Rachel) Lyles, Roderick (Jessie) Lyles Jr, Brittany (Paul) Hounchell, Michael (Cassandra) Lyles, Patrick Lyles, Victoria Pryor, Cameron Pryor, Joshua Pryor, Jordan Pryor, Christina Smith, Tania Davis, Alexander Roseboro, and Dominiq Dudley; 18 great grandchildren; and nieces Christi Ann Strickland and Flora Michelle Roth.
