Walter Lipson Obituary

On Monday October 14, 2019, Walter Darrell "Walt Baby Love" Lipson suddenly departed this life and entered his eternal home.

He was born on July 23, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee to the union of Doris & Tommie Lipson. Walter’s family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1957 where he grew up in the Brentnell area and played basketball for Linden McKinley. After transferring to North High, he met his wife Stephanie, in 1974.He worked for American Electric Power before starting his own legacy and union as Father and Husband.

Walter was a born communicator and a good man, with a good heart. When he strolled into a room, he could, at will lift one’s spirit. Always had a timely observation or a colorful comment such as "BOOM 50" or "What’s going down? You, if you’re not careful" or "Chalk It", or the one his children and grandchildren heard many times, "You wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for me."

Everyone loved Walter. Even when he brought the truth to light, sometimes striking a nerve, but never with malicious intent. It was not in his nature or his makeup. He definitely lived a fulfilled life and in the past 5 years he moved in with his kids and 8 grandchildren and became a wonderful grandfather to them. He had a heart of pure gold making no enemies and living his life in kindness to friends, family and strangers. He will be deeply missed, but the footprints he left will always be remembered and never forgotten.
