Memory of Warren Love

Warren Derrick (Nunnie) Love, age 68. Sunrise December 8th, 1955 and Sunset December 18th, 2023.

Born in Columbus, Ohio he attended Eastmoor High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving four years during Vietnam. After working in printing for years, Warren was encouraged to research becoming an HVAC technician where he found his love for Heating and Air-Conditioning.

Warren was eventually hired by the City of Columbus and retired after working over 20 years with Recreation and Parks helping keep rec centers cool during the summer and warm during the winter months. While working with the City, Warren was known for his work ethic and the relationships he established with co-workers and members of the community. He took pride in working hard and doing the right thing – traits that were reflected on various performance documents throughout the years.

He enjoyed cars, music, sports, and a good debate. Warren loved spending time with friends and family and made sure anyone who visited his home got a chance to see his classic cars in the garage. Warren took pride in helping others and spent many hours helping neighbors clear their driveways and sidewalks during the winter, using his handyman skills to make small repairs for friends and family and lending a hand when a neighbor needed assistance. He was kind, loving and always had a joke to make you laugh.

Warren’s passion for golf was clear to anyone who met him. He made countless friends while spending time on golf courses throughout the city and would spend a large part of his life hitting golf balls and interacting with the community at Far East Recreation Center. Warren loved teaching golf to kids and sharing what the sport meant to him – a joy that would often inspire others to pick up a club. Warren’s impact on the Greater Columbus Community is immeasurable and his love, kindness and joy for life will live on in everyone he touched.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert Love, Shirley Tynes, and James Tynes and his brother, Robert G. Love.

Left to cherish his memory, best friend and loving Wife, Denise Love; sons, Camillo Love and Robert (Sabrina) Love and James (Jess) Elliott Jr.; daughter, Tanisha Love; brother, Eugene (Linda) Tynes; sister, Shelia Tynes; grandson, Da’Jon Wood and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
