William Gilbert Jones was born on July 8, 1964, in Columbus, OH. He was the eldest of four children of the union of Juanita (Jones) Bradley and William M. Jones. He accepted Christ, was baptized as a teenager, and recently rededicated his life, reclaiming his faith in God. William was affectionately known to all of his friends and family as “Billy.”
As a young man, he discovered his talent and love for athletics. Billy played youth football for many years with the Linden Eagles and possessed a passion for weight lifting as a youth. One of his favorite hobbies was boxing, and he earned many wins and coined the name “Wild Bill,” which many friends and family still addressed him. Billy graduated from Linden McKinley High School in June 1983, where he also played football.
Shortly after graduating high school, William gained employment with Rockwell International as a Structures Mechanic, building B1 Bombers. He later transferred to Grumman Aerospace in Riverhead, New York, building F16 Fighter Planes. Billy relocated to Marietta, Ga, and Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton, OH, during his tenure with Grumman. More recently and for many years, Billy was employed with EMS Concessions & Vending as a Concessions contractor. Billy loved this job, as it allowed him to travel all over the country, working at major sporting events and big-ticket concerts, interacting with people from all different walks of life!
William “Billy” married Lisa Austin (Jones) on December 25, 1987. Although divorced, Billy & Lisa continued to share an extraordinary “unbreakable” bond until his time of death.
William “Billy” is preceded in death by his step-father, James C. Bradley, father William M. Jones, brother, Timothy C. Jones, brother-in-law Johnny Talbert Sr. and grandparents, Marilyn Chitson and William G. Hoover, and long-time special companion Pam Suber.
