Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 2596 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, OH 43224. Interment: Friday, April 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Evergreen Memory Gardens, 5364 Lexington, KY.
Yolanda Theresa Scott, daughter of the late Arthur Wille and Bernadine Hines Moran was born December 10, 1961, in New Orleans, Louisiana and departed this life peacefully on April 1, 2024.
She graduated from the St. Mary’s Academy in 1979 where she was a member of the Choir and the Drill Dance Team. She subsequently attended Southern University Baton Rouge receiving a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Food. She then completed her dietary internship in Johnson City, New York.
After a brief stint with Continental Airlines, she began her professional career with Perth Amboy Hospital in New Jersey as a Clinical Dietician. She entered Long Term Care in 2000 in Tampa, Florida. She found her calling in the care of the elderly and has continued to serve until her retirement.
Yolanda was joined in Holy Matrimony to Darryl H. Scott on September 3, 1988, being blessed with 35 years of marriage raising a son Harrison Peyton and daughter Miranda Theresa.
Yolanda, the forever “encourager” was active in the New Salem Prayer Ministry and greatly enjoyed praying daily with the saints. Always aware of her fitness she was a part of Black Girls Run (BGR) and Marathoners In Training (MIT), where she completed 14 full marathons, and over 60 half’s, and numerous 10Ks/5Ks/and fun runs. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (AKA), Inc. and enjoyed displaying her colors and pearls.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband Darryl, children Harrison and Miranda, sister-in-law Monica Moran McGuire, nieces Nikki, Kia, Kayla, mother-in-law Ruth Scott, aunts Dr. Merrylyn Moran-Smith, Debra (James) Moran-Reimonenq, Dorothy Moran and Paula Merritt. Cousins Maliaka Moran and Darlene Miller. Uncles Jeff, Jihad, and Ronald Hines, a loving church family, and her many walk/run partners in the community.
In addition to her parents, Yolanda was preceded in death by a son Chandler M. Scott, brother Arthur (Will) Moran, III., uncles Kermit and Jerry Moran, and father-in-law Clarence Scott, Jr. She loved her family, and she will be missed more than words can say.
